Really, NFL....Maroon 5??? My thoughts on this horrendous pick...

Dear NFL….you’ve made a huge mistake.

On September 19th it was reported that Maroon 5 was chosen to be this years Super Bowl halftime show performer. The NFL nor Maroon 5 have confirmed this, but there is a 99.9% chance it’s true, just like it’s always been in the past.

I hate to say this, but Maroon 5 was a TERRIBLE CHOICE. I’m not saying their songs are bad, but every time I’ve seen them perform live they are super boring and uneventful. Their songs aren’t hype or exciting like Beyonce’s or Lady Gaga’s. They don’t have the “pizazz” that Bruno Mars, Prince, Beyonce, Lady Gaga,…LITERALLY EVERY SUPER BOWL HALFTIME PERFORMER EVER HAD. There is no way they can carry a whole halftime show…

and this is what gets me even more upset….

Word on the street is that Maroon 5 wants to bring out Cardi B, BUT apparently Cardi B said she will only do it if she gets her own set. It will be such an insult if Cardi B gets her own set and more screen time than Maroon 5 or any other guest performer. She is a fairly new artist who doesn’t deserve who own set at the Super bowl…it would be a joke. The NFL should have put a bigger female star, for example, Jennifer Lopez or Rihanna to do the Super Bowl halftime show before Cardi B ever does. I would find it so rude if this happens…

The only way that Maroon 5 will have an “okay” performance at the Super Bowl is if they bring a ton of musical guests. BUT, they can’t make the same mistake Coldplay did. At the 2016 Super Bowl, Coldplay (who is very capable of carrying a halftime show by themselves) made the huge mistake of bringing two mega stars on stage: Beyonce and Bruno Mars. Although it was fricken phenomenal and brought the whole stadium down…when people think of Coldplay’s halftime show, who do they think of??? Beyonce and Bruno Mars ONLY. So, with that being said Maroon 5 either tries to carry a whole show on their backs or bring a ton of musical guests. Either way…it’s a lose-lose situation for them and the NFL.

Thanks for listening to my TED talk. ;)

Let me know what you think about Maroon 5 doing the halftime show in the comments below!
